Amman, the main city of Jordan and its capital, has been destroyed and rebuilt through the centuries.  Mainly it was ruined by natural disasters and earthquakes.  Amman remained a village until 1878 when the railway was built between Damascus and Amman, from then on the city grew. Today the city is very well developed and can boast many art galleries and museums.
The Dead Sea is 33% salt, and that is the reason why no living thing can survive in its waters.  The water is said to be very therapeutic for ailments, and certain skin diseases.  People flock to the Dead Sea from all over the world to benefit from its curative minerals.
Pella is in the North of Jordan, and until today excavations are still continuous.  One of the oldest Christian Churches resides here.
Umm Quays is a town in the Northern Jordan Valley from which the Sea of Galilee and the Golan Heights are visible.
Jerash was inhabited since the Bronze Age around 1200 B.C. and has the ruins of the city of Gerasa which are Greco-Roman.  Jerash is known for its fruit and vegetables that grow in its rich soil.
Ajloun is famous for the Aljloun Castle and its many ruins.
Madaba is found in the middle of Jordan and is known for its mosaics.  There is one of the most famous mosaics of the Holy Land dating back to the 6th century.
Petra s a famous site located in the middle of the desert and is thousands of years old.  There are the most amazing facades to view, along with temples, a Roman theater, tombs, and much more.
